up datin ya

I've been working at the Express for almost a week now. So far so good.

I have written a few stories and I'm slowly getting used to the crazy News Ltd software that we have to do all our stories in (it all works on commands and you don't use a mouse... but it's the same for every News Ltd paper).

The paper here runs a lot of advertising features, and the journos are expected to help out by taking photos and writing editorial. So I've been doing a fair bit of that too. It's not much fun but it's a good opportunity to get out and meet people in the town.

Today I visited about 14 shops and took photos of their products. Then wrote cheesy editorial captions for all the photos. Lol. Oh well...

Also met the local State member today and did a story on an award he presented to a JP who's served he community for 25 years. We had a chat afterwards and he gave me a bottle of cab sauv with a picture of state parliament on the front, as a welcome to Ingham gift. Yay!

Am also being badgered to join the local theatre group. Hm. Not sure if it's my thing. I might do something else though. I need to meet some people outside of work.

Anyway. There's not a whole lot of exciting stuff going on right now. Just getting used to it up here. I quite like it so far.

Oh! And I'll be home for Christmas on the 23rd of November, staying until the weekend of new years. Sweet as. :-)

Catch you later when I got some more interesting stuff to say.
